There is nothing wrong with using animated vegetables to get through to children. I have every veggie tales song on a CD in my car, and I know every word by heart. I pull it out once or twice a year and sing my guts out. It’s fun.

But I don’t get my faith from those songs. Children’s stories belong in children’s church. But too many Christians shed the veggies without shedding the oversimplified ideas the veggies present. They are afraid of questioning God in the slightest, not because they have faith, but because they don’t. Not because they know him, but because they don’t.
