Stop the Press! Angelina’s children go to school, too!

Angelina dropped her oldest child off to school. This is news. Not only is this news, it’s “education news.” It’s sad that the child can’t go to school without people following him around. It’s sad that American “adults” don’t have any more concern for the child than that. It’s sad that Education Week even brings this up. It’s sad that a man in Texas has a tattoo of Angelina’s son on his body.

The most pathetic thing about these two Angelina-Jolie-drops-Maddox-off-at-school stories is the subtext running through them, to wit:

1.     “See how horrible public schools are? Even Angelina doesn’t take her kids to them.”

Since when do the rich take their kids to public school? This is supposed to mean something? Who doesn’t try to do the best they can for their children that they can afford?

2.     “Good mommies are responsible and pick up school calendars & such.”

True enough. I’m glad Angelina is a good mommy. I’m angry that the bloggers think American parents need instruction and guidance from an actress on how to be responsible parents. Maybe if more parents were picking up school calendars and dropping their children off personally to school, even the public schools would improve.

Is this embarrassing to anyone else?
