Top Five Stumbles Lately

I have been using StumbleUpon to surf the web for several years. It’s my favorite way to find cool stuff. I feel like doing a fun/light post today because I just found out my brother is joining the Army again. I am speechless with grief and anger. So I decided to try to make myself laugh with some of these sites.

These are my favorite five things I’ve stumbled this week, in no particular order.

1. Pirates v. Ninjas: The great debate of our time.

2. The History of the Internet.

3. Things You Wish Your Computer Had: to which I would add a “Revert to Windows XP” button.

4. Fun Word Game: I always love word games, and this one is way fun. Plus, if you go into the Human Brain Cloud and drag the center bubble across the screen, it looks like a cartoon version of the sentinels from “The Matrix,” so cute and not scary at all.

5. A Horror Movie Character’s Survival Guide: This one sounds way too much like my job:

  • If a small band of children appear to be smarter then the adults that are around them, be cautious. If they stay together in a small, secretive group, and display nothing but hostility towards their elders, authority, and the church, leave town at once. If you wish to stay, be as kind to the children as possible, but expect to die anyways because you are inferior to them.

That is a lengthy list! All of those tips about surviving a horror movie are spot-on! I would note two omissions* (*=speculation based solely on an incomplete reading of an exhaustive list):

      - If you are standing in a corner facing the walls, accept the fact that you have now made permanent residence.

      - If you find your friend standing in a corner facing the walls, prepare to get thwacked.

Thanks for sharing. Oh, and are you really, I mean, like really (not Tween use of ‘really’ and ‘like’) into Eminem?

Perfect description of my students! I’m going to share this with my teacher friends.

I really do like Eminem. It took me a while to respond to your comment, ken, because I wasn’t sure if you were joking or picking on me.

But — even if you were WWSSD? (What would Slim Shady DO? )
