Musical taste is far too individual for broad categories. So, here’s one strand of my musical DNA. This is a map of my act-a-fool-when-nobody’s- looking gene. This is the gene responsible for the overwhelming need for some specific kinetic movement. Some songs make me skip, spin, or dance; some make me rock out or bang my head. One makes me dance all sexy like a stripper, sans the stripping. (I’ll leave you to guess which one.)
In no particular order, these songs make me demonstrably happy when they come on to the point that I have to stop whatever I was doing and act a fool (as long as nobody’s looking):
1. Stand by R.E.M.
2. See Emily Play by Pink Floyd
3. Kodachrome by Paul Simon
4. Te Extrano by Akwid
5. When the Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin
6. Without Me by Eminem.
7. The Devil Went Down to Georgia by The Charlie Daniels Band
8. Pepper by The Butthole Surfers
9. Won’t Get Fooled Again by The Who
10. You Can Leave Your Hat On by Joe Cocker
Do you have songs that make you happy like that? I’d love to read your list. What does your act-like-a-fool gene look like?

I really really wish I understood what makes that annoying line! Drives me crazy. There were two of them!!!

I love REM. Case in point: my Junior year research paper was on REM. I fought (and won…hip, hip, hooray!) special permission to research a non-literary work!
Be gone, F Scott. Adieu, Sweet Prince!
I also really enjoy anything off Life’s Rich Pageant (sp?)…Cuyahoga…underated (sp? I’m so sleepy).
On another note, two questions:
1. I have a question about ‘Blogrush’. Should I ask right here…in the middle of your blog? I’d feel so awkward. Okay, what the bleep is my feed URL? I tried to set that thingy up and I couldn’t for the live of me (or for that matter, my soul) figure out what my feed URL is/was/supposed to be. Please help this nascent blogger!

See Emily Play?!?!? Wow. Talk about your obscure Floyd. But yeah I can see how that can make anyone delirious!
I’m with you on #7 and #10. Both those tunes get me going. And I defy anyone not to start tapping their feet or feeling even a little happier after hearing Kodachrome. Nice list and interesting post!

Thanks. I agree about Kodachrome! It’s so bouncy and happy. See Emily Play makes me want to spin around. I know exactly what Emily looks like in my head.

odd space-time moment: on your blog, glanced over @ blogrush widget and saw the link to this post.
I have earned you a credit, right???

As I understand it, no. I could be wrong, but I think the “Credits” get you a place on the widget. The only way to earn me credits is to sign up for blogrush through my widget on my page. However, I’m glad my posts are showing up on other blogs, and that you clicked through!
