Dooce really does make it look easy. I’d always thought of her as having the ultimate carefree life. It seems like she’s always having fun.

But then I realized she’s always brushing by things like,”I took Leta to the grocery store,” or “We were picking Leta up from school,” or “I was on my way to a hotel because I was under a deadline,” to get to the good stuff. You have to think about your life to do that.

To write that close to the edge of your life without coming out like a whiny butt or a pontificating moron — and still be entertaining? That’s great writing.

Plus, she’s getting paid.
