This is Consuela. Despite her extremely pallid skin color, she is a hispanic doll. She was specially made for me by a student last year when I went wild over her doll from another (a-hem) “school.” This meant a tremendous lot to me since I knew this student’s financial situation, and coming up with the $30 bucks to have this doll specially made for me wasn’t easy.

Students are great. It’s administrators that suck.
A Consuela le encanta LSU.
I know her hair looks blue, but it’s not. That’s just my poor picture-taking ability. She is balanced against a few of her favorite books, including Holler if You Hear Me by Michael Eric Dyson and Which One’s Pink? by Phil Rose.

You should have named her “guerita”. My half-Hispanic child always gets called guero because of his (relatively) light skin. I also had a student named Blanca once. Her skin was about the color of that doll. Yeah, that hair color is pretty punk rock.
