Is there a company that allows me to make my own notebook the way Cafe Press lets me make my own T-shirt? I’m talking about the spiral bound or glue bound variety that require no updates or megahertz. The disconnected kind.
I don’t know who’s credited with saying that print is dead. Probably someone important that I should know about like Nietzsche or James Dean. I first heard it from Dr. Spengler on Ghostbusters. But I doubt I’ll ever get over the need to write something down. Not until software comes way up. ~read somewhere that it’s software, not hardware, that’s slowing up progress w/ computers. assuming that’s true. really don’t care~
I just know that I’m not going to stop reading printed books or writing with a pen until this merde becomes a lot more convenient. Maybe not even then. Some ideas demand physicality. Grocery lists, marriage licenses, notes to the UPS guy on the door, and love letters come to mind. Wedding invitations? Diplomas? Coffee table books? Paperbacks for reading in the bathtub? What about the sticky notes my husband leaves on the bathroom mirror?
For me scrapbook is not a verb, but I do have a scrapbook. It’s a plain purple cloth journal with one of those strings attached. ~why do they do that? is there some danger that my pages are going to fly open? or maybe someone who can read and gives a shit about my journal will be unable to get past the high-security elastic, which is starting to stretch out, and it’s really pissing me off~ I just tape things into this book with scotch tape, and sometimes I write stuff. That’s as fancy as it gets. It’s better that way. If it ever became a hobby that took up a whole room in my house, I’d be less inclined to do it. But this notebook has a feel of its own. I’m really starting to love it.
It’s also very important to have a spiral around for making random lists, jotting down ideas, stuff to look up later, books to read, order numbers, passwords, usernames, and funny quotes I hear. This notebook can be a fairly cheap spiral bound from Target, but it has to be cute on the front. ~i mean, if that’s the best they can do.~
This is different from my “writing” notebook, which I’ve never really found a suitable model for. This is the one I would build. This notebook has some specific features, but I’m open to ideas from a company that will put the pages I ask for in the order I ask for with the divisions I ask for. Using the materials I ask for… you get the picture. ~why am i writing like this? because i love the tilde~

I’m addicted to notebooks, too. A text file on the computer can never match the fun of a notebook with a cool cover and a scrapbook of the sort you described.

I have a whole shelf of “writing” notebooks that are from my little short stories and character developments that will never make it to the publisher. Assuming that I will be a published writer, and I WILL BE! Just give me some time. lol. Anyway, I definitely need a custom design on my notebooks because they fall apart.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!
