The Last Week

It’s bedtime on the Sunday night before my last week as a teacher.

My life is in boxes all over the house, separated into the “keep” pile and the “yard sale” pile. ~weird that i saw carrie bradshaw doing much the same thing today in sex and the city, which went on forever and ever~ I’ve gotten rid of about 650 books this week, many of which I collected because I wanted to have lots of books in my classroom. More than half of my posters are in the yard sale pile, but I kept the best ones. There have been 2 or 3 phases of culling in getting rid of junk for a move. This one isn’t the last.

Thinking about this school year, which coincides with the life of this blog, I realize there are things left unsaid. Things I need to say before I can feel this chapter is closed.

I’ll try to be quick about it, and I hope you’ll stay with me.

It’s time to cull the junk out of this experience. To reflect on what’s worth keeping, what can be fixed, what might be valuable to someone else, and what needs to go to the curb with the rotten chicken salad.

But it’s so much easier to think about Futurama.

It’s funny how although we have never met-out of the blue sitting here in my classroom, my mind went to you. I was thinking about your last days. I hope you do share your teaching thoughts here.I think you have many more observations to share with us. I am along for the ride regardless……
