hibiscus

Yesterday, the hibiscus was looking especially fine.

One thing I’m thrilled about is the back patio in our new place. When I lived in Baton Rouge my oppressively controlling ex husband made me get rid of all my plants before the move to Greenville. Since then, I’ve divorced and re-married the man I should have married back in the mid-90s.

But we’ve had too much shade to really plant anything.

This summer, I’ve been starting some plants for my NOLA patio.

We also want to grow some useful stuff, like catnip for the kitty, ~so maybe he won’t eat my other plants~ scallions and peppers. What’s good to grow and eat in August?

How about lettuces? Or spinach? It might be too hot right now though, unless your area is a bit shady. Some of the small globe basil will do well in continued heat and sun. Maybe a bush type of string bean? I love love love to garden (and then eat it, of course) and I’ll envy you your long growing season (but not your ’skeeters)

Girl- You need some serious herbs
CILANTRO will do amazing in heat- and then you can use it to make your own salsa.
Mint for your sweet teas. juleps and mojitos.
    Basil for some yummy pesto.
You finally tapped into my other passions-gardening and cooking!
Missed hearing from you-glad you sound so happy!
