School started yesterday at my old school, and I miss my students horribly. I don’t miss the school, the admin, or any of the other bullshit. But the kids MAKE the job.
Still, I look out of my window and this is what I see:

I’m happy and having fun. I have a job in a little shop I love on Bourbon, and I walk everywhere. ~i know i’ve lost some inches, if not pounds. due in part to the fact that there are 59 steps leading up to our apartment, which stays surprisingly cool & mosquito free, considering it’s new orleans in august. the people who built this house are absolute geniuses~
I don’t know if Taylor the Teacher will continue to exist or not. ~if anyone wants to buy it, make me an offer~
But I am starting new blogs as soon as Cox Communications sees fit to bless me with Internet. ~apparently installing cable in the french quarter is too much for them. third try has come & gone~ When they’re up and going, I’ll post links here for anyone that’s interested.
But I still wish I was seeing Nicole, Kaelie and Nick every day like I used to.

Not all teachers work in schools.
Not all school teachers are educators.
Keep this blog.

There is no question that I will keep blogging. Simply that I don’t know that ttt will be the primary place. But sadcox has me questioning that too.

I think you have so much knowledge and wisdom that would benefit so many others no matter which blog you do! Glad you are enjoying your new life. This beginning of the school year was much harder on me than last year for some reason. I really missed it this year, so hubby took me to Niagara Falls to get me away. (I think he was afraid I would try to go back! LOL)

I tried to comment last week here but your blog ate my comment. So here goes my second attempt.
Your blog is an archive of your perspective on many things not just teaching or the current(often sad) state of public education. I like the array of topics you have covered-it shows your depth as a thinker/blogger.Keep the rest of us informed on your next move-whether it is here or not. I am awful fond of hanging out with you around the doll house.Miss you.

i know what you mean. i was a Special Ed. teacher but left back in 2001 when my BF was offered an IT gig in DE and asked me to come along w/him. i’d never been out of the country and living in, not visting, any place in Europe was my oldest and most cherished dream.
it didn’t hit until a month or two after we’d arrived but it’s stayed w/me; not only do i miss my students but i miss teaching in general (apart from the endless idiotic admin paperwork).
i couldn’t teach in DE cause i could barely speak the language. now we’re here in England and my credits don’t transfer over, so i volunteer instead (at schools and at PDSA, a charity for those who can’t afford to take their pets to vets).
BTW, i was totally amazed after i learnt that teachers are paid on the same level as other professionals in DE. and the respect that goes w/being a teacher there is the same as the respect that’s built in when one’s a doctor or lawyer.

Me and Nick walked by your classroom the other day and were so sad. We really miss you, Taylor!
It’s been a really crazy year.
